Ben 10 Watch Toys – Check List For Parents
The Ben 10 cartoon show seems to grow in popularity every year. It has been going since 2005 and is still the Boys Brand of The Year 2009. As the cartoon keeps its fans happy so does the toy range accompanying the show. More and more Ben 10 branded items are finding their way into shops but in this article we are just going to look at the must-have role play accessory – Ben 10 watch toys, aka the Omnitrix.
If you are new to the Ben 10 toy world, here is a quick check list of things to watch out for when buying this famous watch.
- The Ben 10 watch is central to the cartoon show. It is what enables Ben to transform into his many alien alter egos. As such if you only ever buy one Ben 10 toy – it should be an Omnitrix.
- Bandai have made at least five versions of this watch but just because they all look similar, do not just think any one of them will do.
- Steer clear of the Omnitrix Alien Viewer. It has no lights or sounds and viewing the teeny weenie images from the included disks is virtually impossible.
- Think twice about the Omnitrix FX. It does at least have some flashing lights and cartoon show sound effects and the alien silhouettes, whilst still tiny, are visible with the now included back light.
- If your child prefers the original series aliens, such as Greymatter, Wildmutt and Stinkfly, the Deluxe Omnitrix is the way to go. This is the best of the black Omnitrix watches. It features an LCD screen showing the aliens that you can actually see and it also includes a little computer game. It also has the best strap of the whole range, being fabric as opposed to plastic.
- If your child is new to Ben 10 and has only seen the second series, Alien Force, you will want to stick to one of the next two Omnitrix. They have changed colour to green so do not confuse your little one by giving them a black one.
- If your child prefers the Alien Force aliens, such as Humungousaur, Echo Echo and Jetray, stick with the Ultimate Omnitrix. This is the best of the green watches and is in fact a two–in-one toy. It comes with a mini translucent alien figure which can be attached to the watch to mimic Ben’s viewing of his aliens in the show. More mini aliens can be purchased separately as part of the 10cm figure bundles.
- For a backup plan if your child has the rest of the above, consider the Alien Force Omnitrix Projector (or Illuminator). This is still a green Omnitrix but it projects Alien Force scenes and alien pictures onto a wall. It comes with three disks of five images each, although the projection quality is not that great.
Use the above checklist to give you a start if you are trying to pick a Ben 10 Omnitrix to buy and find the choice overwhelming.
